Auricular Acupuncture for Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation with Stress Management
The ear is used for both diagnosis and treatment in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Auricular acupuncture was developed by the ancient Chinese and consists of stimulating designated areas on the ear’s surface by the insertion of needles at specific acupoints related to internal body functions.
Auricular acupuncture is one of the microsystems used within Eastern medicine. Microsystems use one aspect of the body - for example, the ears (Auricular acupuncture), hands (Korean hand acupuncture) or feet (Reflexology) - to treat conditions that are present anywhere in the body.
The ear has direct effect on the brain and stimulates certain chemical responses when touched or pressed in the right location. The chemical responses then trigger a cascade of events that relieve the disorder. From the eastern perspective, energy (or Qi) moves throughout the body and can become blocked, too weak, or stagnant. Auricular acupuncture balances this energy and stimulates the body to heal itself.
Physically Auricular acupuncture relaxes and reduces stress, decreases pain, increases energy and immunity levels and normalizes sleep.
Mentally and emotionally, it helps you feel clear, alert, calm and focused. Pain is sometimes relieved instantaneously.
Auricular acupuncture may be used as a primary mode of treatment or in conjunction with other treatments such as Acupuncture, Oriental Bodywork or Herbal medicine. The treatment consists of 30 to 40 minutes session during which simple diagnosis is done, a needle pattern is set up and after the needles are put in place the patient relaxes for 20-25 minutes. The effectiveness can be seen in 3 to 6 sessions. If required, magnetic buds and needle studs can be used for longer periods (up to a week) in between sessions.
Indications: Headaches, chronic body pains, allergic and inflammatory conditions, sweats, sleep disturbances, tremors, anxiety, depression etc.
Auricular acupuncture decreases anger and greatly reduces cravings for alcohol and other drugs.
