Along with the main therapies on our practice list we incorporate the following range of supporting methods, therapies and techniques to even further enhance the healing results throughout the course of treatments.
Dorn method
Dorn method is a non-manipulative approach to treating joint or spinal cord misalignments in a dynamic, moving action with gentle pressure using the thumb or hand against the spinous processes, while the patient enacts guided movements such as swinging the leg or arms to distract the muscles in spasm/contraction.
Inversion therapy
Inversion therapy (IT) is mostly practiced for treatment of back pain by hanging the patient upside down in an inverted position (against gravity) on the so called inversion table. It is effective in decompressing the spine and relaxing muscles and ligaments. IT helps in: decompressing the spine, correcting the body posture, increasing flexibility, blood and lymph circulation, relieving stress etc.
TPT (Trigger point therapy)
Trigger point therapy is a specific manual technique, used to treat painful points on muscles that often cause referred pain into parts of the body, distant to the painful spot. Trigger point is a hyperirritable painful spot in the muscle tissue which "triggers" a painful response.
Abdominal (visceral) massage
Abdominal (visceral) massage is the process of massaging and manipulating deep tissue to improve the functioning of the various organs in the abdominal cavity. It increases circulation to the affected body parts, removes adhesions that may restrict movement and cause discomfort. Massaging the visceral organs helps in relieving stress and strengthening the body's resistance to disease.
Extremity adjusting technique
Extremity adjusting technique is an adjustment or manipulation used to correct joint fixations anywhere in the body other than the spine. Joints can become misaligned and cause pain in the same manner as the spine. Athletes in particular find significant benefits with this type of adjusting. Extremity adjusting technique can restore and enhance joint function, which can increase the life of a joint and keep wear and tear to a minimum.
SOT (Sacro-occipital technique)
Sacro-occipital technique is a chiropractic method based primarily on the identification and treatment of 3 bodily systems (called Categories): the cranial sacral respiratory system, the weight bearing system and the function of the lumbar spine. The cranial sacral mechanism is a combination of integrated functions that support, nourish and enhance the performance of the nervous system as it controls bodily functions.
Logan basic technique
Logan Basic is one of the lowest force adjustment techniques. It is based on light, sustained force exerted against a specific contact point on the sacrum at the base of the spine. This technique uses the muscular structure surrounding the sacrum as a lever system for balancing the entire structure of the spine. Specific segments along the spine are adjusted while the contact point is being held. The adjustment takes 5-15 minutes and the amount of force is no more than the level of finger pressure that can be tolerated on a closed eyelid.
PNT (Pain Neutralization Technique)
Pain neutralization technique uses specific biological reflexes of the body to turn off painful trigger points, creating instantaneous recovery from sometimes prolonged chronic miofascial pain.
MET (Muscle Energy Technique)
Muscle energy technique is based on the principle of reciprocal inhibition, a theory that explains that muscles on one side of a joint will always relax to accommodate the contraction of muscles on the other side of that joint when indirect pressure is applied. MET is often applied to patients who suffer from muscle spasms.
PRT (Positional Release Technique)
Positional release technique is a method used to trigger a physiological response in relieving neuromuscular pain. It can be used to treat a wide variety of dysfunctions, including fractures, carpal tunnel syndrome, low back pain and neck pain.
Shiatsu Shin Tai
Shiatsu Shin Tai incorporates shiatsu, craniosacral, fascial and structural alignment techniques into one comprehensive way of working with the body. Shin Tai technique is a light touch to specific areas of the body that will best clear and open the energetic system. Shin Tai works with the primary information system of the body, the Governing Vessel (GV) and the Conception Vessel (CV) meridians. Shiatsu Shin Tai combined with energetic, structural, muscle and connective tissue work helps to restore the primary body/mind information system and helps the person realign with their priorities, goals and creative impulses. As a result of this treatment, clients experience deeper release in the spine, creating higher mobility of the neck, shoulders and hips.
